We bought this for our son to use with his new iTouch. Best sounding alarm/clock radio we've had. However, the unit malfunctioned almost every night. The radio would turn on in the middle of the night, always at volume level 16, which is loud. There was no reason for this as the alarms were off.
Also, the time randomly reset itself. We'd reset the time adn teh next day it would be off by several hours.
Display way too bright. It was brighter than a night light!
The sleep mode did not remember the volume used. So, every time the sleep mode was activated, it started in a loud volume.
After a week with this radio, my son was pretty tired. We took it back and got the iHome iP97 and so far we love it. It does what we tell it to do!

I bought this at Costco. I thought in general it was a good radio. Reception and sound were fine. It was easy to set up and use. I didn't really care for the volume and tuning knobs. They were flush with the top of the unit and I found hard to use but I used the remote mostly anyway. I would have greatly enjoyed this radio had the display not quit working. It's hard to tune the radio or find a station if you can't see where you are at. I returned and of course Costco didn't have any more so I couldn't try another one.

I purchased this at Costco for $89 (I see some paid less) looking to replace an older model iHome H5 iPod Clock Radio. What sold me on this unit was the HD radio and the size of the iPhone dock--I use an InCase sleeve for my iPhone (3Gs), and the phone fits in the dock without having to remove the sleeve. I use this at my office for charging my iPhone, listening to music on my iPhone or listening to the radio. The clock function is not that important to me. The sound quality is excellent and the design of the case is simple and elegant, if a little large. All in all, it looks "professional" and fits nicely on an office desk. The remote is hefty and works well enough.
So why the poor review? First, after about one month the display (except for the time) stopped working when my iPhone is in the dock; now I cannot see the date or the volume when I adjust it (it actually flickers very quickly). Second, about once a month when I put my iPhone in the dock my phone flashes a message stating that the "accessory is not made for iPhone" and asks whether I want to turn on airplane mode to cut down on interference. Not only do I not want to do that (in case someone calls) but the phone neither works nor charges in any event. And when this happens, NONE of the controls on the unit work. The only solution I have found is to unplug it. Third, since the display conked out when using my iPhone, the volume dial on the unit and the volume buttons on the remote are very unresponsive, although they still work. In other words, to adjust the volume even slightly you have to spin the dial about ten times or hold the button on the remote for 5-10 seconds.
I did not want to go back to an iHome product because I am not impressed with the build quality of their products and because my iPhone would not fit in the dock with the sleeve on. I would have returned this if I had not lost the receipt.

My daughter got this unit last year and she loves it. She uses is primarily as a docking/charging station for her i-pod and sometimes for listening to the radio. she loves the remote and the tagging features. as a result of her positive experience with it, my husband gave one to me to replace my very old clock radio. it is going back to the store. for a so-called "clock" radio, the clock seems to be just incidental. this is used on my nightstand and i need to be able to actually see what time it is. i also need to be able to look across the room (like when i'm getting ready for work in the morning) and see what time it is. not only is the time display very small and unreadable from more than 2 ft away it doesn't show at all if the radio is on. if one is only using this for listening to music, it might be a great unit, but if one actually wants it to function as a clock it isn't very useful. it should not be called a clock radio -- it is really a radio/docking station with an alarm.

I have been using the TEAC HD-1 for about 6 weeks now. I live about 20 miles outside Indianapolis and using an antenna (supplied) I have had no problems receiving HD stations (at least on the 2nd floor). It functions as an excellent dock for my iPhone 3GS and the sound quality is good. I really like the ability to tag music in HD mode and create a download list for the next time I synch with iTunes. I bought a refurb model from another online dealer at about 40% less than Amazon. You can wake to AM/FM/HD radio or an iPod or iPhone.
There are a few things to watch out for with this unit. The display is VERY BRIGHT. I bought some window tint film to apply to the display and that is working pretty well. Also, the clock can lose the correct time if the HD radio station is broadcasting the wrong time. It autosets, so pay attention when you try out new stations. Finally, I needed to read the instructions once (the HORROR!) to quickly figure out how to set the alarms and use the other features. One major issue I have with the product:
I often come to bed later than than my spouse and when I dock my iPhone, it autoplays. You have to wait a couple of seconds before it begins, then hit the power off button to move it to charge mode.
All-in-all, I would buy it again although I hope for some tweeks to future models.
