"Great sound; horrible FM reception" 2010-03-29
By Almus Kenter (Seacoast,NH USA)
Received one as a gift. CD sounds great. MP3 input sounds great..

FM reception is terrible. You want it for the radio? --think twice.

I tried several amplified antennas, wire. Maybe a roof mounted

antenna with coax cable is necessary?

Cheap fm stereo boom-box gets MUCH better reception.

I had to send it back once as it just "died". Replacment

was 200.00.

 "First Tivoli purchase -" 2010-06-05
By Sandy Williams (Texas)
I am very happy with the Tivoli Songbook. Felt I got a good deal from one of the sellers on Amazon and was very pleasantly surprised. Having purchased a Bose CD/Radio alarm clock several years ago, the Songbook delivers equal sound quality at a much lower price. It was a gift to my son who has all his music stored on the ipod. This is also an excellent receiver for a portable.

 "Tivoli Radio" 2010-05-02
By A. Hartman (Ohio)
The only thing I'm not very happy with on this radio is the coating. I chose this one for the more durable rubberized coating since my husband is using it in his workshop. The bad thing is that the coating seems to attract dirt and dust since the outside is not completey smooth. It may have been better to buy one of the other Tivoli's with a smooth hard coating that could have been cleaned more easily. The sound and operation of the radio is great though. He hooks his Ipod up to it most of the time and it sounds really good. The price was very reasonable too compared to what I saw it for elsewhere.

"Exactly what I was looking for." 2010-03-09
By Cynthia (Oregon, USA)
I wanted a small radio that I could carry back and forth to work, that had an auxiliary input for my iphone, and would sound good. I found it in the SongBook. It really does sound good for such a small unit. I'm very happy with it. The price was a bit high, but I did find a blue one (which is not bad looking) that was marked down...that made it doable.

We bought the black one this time. The yellow one seems to pick up a lot of dirt and the rubberized covering on the unit which is great for durability is not easy to clean. We really like how compact this unit is. And you can't beat the sound quality.

 "The On-The-Go Tivoli!!!" 2010-01-15
By Brendan P. Clark (Everett, WA, USA)
The songbook is my fourth Tivoli radio. I already own the Model One, Two, and Satellite. They all have great sound and unique features. However, none of them are mobile and I wanted a radio to use while traveling, boating, and camping. The Songbook was the perfect solution; I could still get the great Tivoli sound anywhere I wanted to go. After using the radio for about a month, here are some likes and dislikes:

Likes:

- Great sound quality. Like any Tivoli, for such a small radio, it puts out a great sound. It fills the bedroom, kitchen, office, or garage very well.

- Build quality. The rubberized coating has a good feel when you grab it. It also is weather resistant so you can use it outside. The radio is heavy duty for its size and feels like it could take a fall and keep playing.

- Battery efficiency and charging capabilities. Not only do batteries last a long time, the radio recharges them as well. I bought a set of Sanyo Eneloop batteries (absolutely worth the money) specifically for the Songbook. They last about 15 hours on a single charge. I use my radio about an hour a day and charge it every two weeks. And, when the batteries do get drained, the built in charger refreshes them in about 5 hours.

- Digital tuning. The digital tuner really breaks the Tivoli mold by straying away from the analog dial tuner. The digital tuner is just as good, if not better, than the analog version. Once a frequency is set, you can move the antenna for the best reception. I have found this radio pulls more stations than my other Models using the external antennas.

- AM/FM presets. I like being able to switch between a couple stations with just the push of a button. It makes tuning quick and easy.

- Keyhole hanger. Being such a simple feature, the keyhole serves a great purpose. By being able to hang the radio on the wall, it gets it up and out of the way. It also makes using the controls easier since it is stationary and stable when hung.

Dislikes:

- Lack of carrying handle. For a portable radio, it would have been nice to have a built in carrying handle. This is solved if you use the Tivoli Songbook Carry Bag; however, it's an additional $30.

Overall, this is a really good, portable radio. I tend to use it more than my Two and Satellite because I can take it room to room. I've also used it as a speaker for my laptop and it works great for that. The Songbook is all that I expected out of a Tivoli product. It's not a radio that has earthmoving bass, but it is a perfect companion for good quality, clean sound. Listening to all kinds of music and talk radio, I am always pleased with the sounds the Songbook broadcasts.

"Good Radio/Needs Real World Fixes" 2009-12-22
By Charles J. Turner (Sedley, Virginia)
Yes, it is a good radio compared to others I have had in the woods over the past 30 years. Digital tuner is convenient but reception is just average. Function is good of buttons etc. Sound is pretty darn good for such a compact radio. Better than most, though a treble bass control would also be an improvement. Radio will fall over easy and it also needs a little handle. They could have made a handle that acted as a lean back or base stabilizer. Charging function is good and battery staying power will last me a three day trip in the woods. I have had the radio three years and now am having problems with it. Sometimes it will post a "E" on the screen and it takes a whack to make it play. Also sometimes now the charger will not begin to charge at first and again it takes a whack. So most likely it does not have long to live. I'll most likely get made at it one night when it finally goes and leaves me without tunes and shoot it. It is an expensive radio and not worth $200, $100 yes if you can get three years out of it or more. I would buy another one for $100.

"Great Sound in a Small Box!" 2010-02-01
By K. Griffith (Vandalia, OH)
We bought the black one this time. The yellow one seems to pick up a lot of dirt and the rubberized covering on the unit which is great for durability is not easy to clean. We really like how compact this unit is. And you can't beat the sound quality.

 "Tivoli Radio" 2010-01-24
By Barbara Munguia (Richmond, Tx, US)
This radio has wonderful sound. I wanted one that I could change the channels easily and turn on and off easily. Kind of the old fashioned type. You will love it, I got one and my husband couldn't stand it and he got one too.

 "Nice Little Radio" 2009-08-31
By JEFFREY S. SHULTZ (WHEELING, WV USA)
I bought this as a radio for my kitchen. Looks nice. The sound is good. Not as rich as my PAL for music, but better for the spoken word (too much bass on the PAL). I don't use the alarm clock feature, so can't speak to that. Overall I'm very pleased with the quality of constructiTon, appearance, and sound. I'd buy it again.
