What other world travel clock will synchronize to radio signals from the US, UK, European and Japanese atomic clocks as well as project the time on the ceiling? There are few other contenders--if any! As a crewmember for a major domestic carrier, I regularly fly across multiple time zones both on- and off-duty. I find this clock to be easily adaptable to time changes domestically and abroad. And with the option for receiving so many radio signals around the globe, I am not forced to rely solely on my cellular phone (which only works in N. America) to provide me with accurate time. I bought this clock specifically for the projection feature as I am always fumbling around in my hotel room as I try to get my bearings in order to find a clock and figure out what time it is in my current location. Having the accurate time projected on the ceiling solves this problem. I will agree with other reviewers that the instructions are VERY small and less than detailed but I did not find this to be an insurmountable obstacle. If one has difficulty reading the instructions for the RMB899P, they can certainly be found on the internet in a .pdf format, downloaded, and resized. Further, I agree that the box is VERY misleading in that it reads "AC power adapter for continuous projection" is amongst the features but in fairness to Oregon Scientific it does not specifically state that an ac adapter is included. BE FOREWARNED--THERE IS NO AC POWER ADAPTER INCLUDED WITH THE CLOCK! However, the clock's continuous projection WILL work with an optional 3.0V 300mA adapter with smaller sized plugs. (For example, I tried a 3.5mm X 1.35mm and a 4.0mm X 1.7mm plug both with success.) The continuous projection can be activated once the ac adapter is in place by holding down the "snooze" button longer than the time required to simply activate the backlight. Once the backlight automatically times out, the continuous projection will stay on. Continuous projection can be similarly deactivated by holding down the "snooze" button again for an equal amount of time. (FYI these instructions are NOT found in the manual!) If you are not tech-savvy then perhaps this isn't the clock for you. That being said, I believe Oregon Scientific is generally a fantastic brand and this is a great little radio-controlled travel projection clock...if you're willing to do the work!

I bought mine about a year ago for the projected time on the ceiling however it does not project without an ac adapter which was not included. Since I already had it and couldn't wait for a replacement I tried to make the most of it and went to Radio Shack to see if I could get an ac adapter for it there. They tried everything and could not get it work with any ac adapter. So mine does not project unless I hit the snooze which is not the way I intended to use the projection.
Another problem that I have had is setting the time, which I need to do every time I travel and I travel a lot. It is very, very complicated. The instructions were very difficult to read so I downloaded it from the manufacturers website. This was easily done but the instructions are very poor. I finally gave up on the instructions and just wing it each time. I no longer use it for traveling because I don't need the headaches of setting a simple travel alarm clock when I travel.
I also noticed that it takes a long time for the clock to sync with the atomic clock in Boulder CO but it eventually does. I think it usually takes a few weeks (therefore it was never synced when I traveled). I live in a very big city in South Florida so I was surprised as I have had other clocks that synced much quicker.
If you travel or want something that projects the time or need to be be synced with the atomic clock immediately, then this is NOT the clock for you.
As for using it on other continents, I have not taken it out of North America to verify it would actually sync with one of the atomic clocks across the globe.

Only projects when you hit the snooze button, which is impossible to find in the dark, so what is the point? It says you can have continuous projection with an AC adapter, but try finding one. And then, I tried plugging in the AC adapter from my bedside Oregon Scientific clock, which seemed to fit but...no continuous projection still, and I can't find a manual anywhere. It's a compact and stylish travel clock if you don't need to read the time in the dark.

I was very excited to get this clock, but it just does not live up to its description. The projected time is very hard or impossible to see unless the room is pitch black. It also only projects continuously if you buy a separate power cord to plug it in. In my case, the cord jack connection appears to be weak, so the projection still blinks out. The front display is also hard to read. The black-on-grey color scheme does not provide enough contrast. It can show the time via back-light, but again you have to press a button for this function, and then it is on for a minute.
My husband also had a difficult time getting it to detect the time, and we are in the eastern US time zone.
Don't bother with this product. It's a waste of money.

I totally concur with OR Murray! I would never have thought Oregon Scientific would have had something as cheap as this! It says the AC adapter is included ..it's not....why would I want a projection clock if I can't get it to project all the time? It keeps me from having to sit up in bed...look over the lump who is my dear husband and try to see the clock! It's not rocket science....but getting the clock to the correct time zone is!! Make the clock EASY! I am computer literate and my family considers me the person to do all things like this....but when companies do like this it makes that job harder! The instructions were horrible! I will definitely think again before I will spend the extra money on an OS product.
