I'm really good at figuring out gadgets so wasn't worried about the complex operations of this clock. Problem is in the quality. At first, mine behaved erraticly--sometimes waking to radio would work, sometimes it didn't. Last straw, was when the time it went off started varying by a few hours. Being woken up at 2 AM was enough for me to ditch this....

Really like the item. Size is perfect and the radio tone is superb. My only complaint is that the dial is really difficult to read unless you are close to it. That's not a big thing, but just a minor annoyance. I would urge anyone wishing to get out from under having to re-set the clock to go atomic. Also watch the literature and not accidently buy an automatic. I had a Smart Set that wasn't geared to the new DST changes and it was most inconvenient when it changed before time. Over all I am very pleased with the Sangean atomic clock radio.

The RCR-2 is terrible..we could not get the Alarm to ring or have the radio go off the way we wanted..one day it would buzz but not on the on the correct staion mext it would go off on FM when set to AM. It did or did not do whatever you can think of. Maybe I had a bad one or maybe I'm too stupid to follow the instructions. Two of us --one reading step by step and the other person hitting the settings...no luck...

An "o.k." purchase. Too confusing for my husband so we are going to buy a different clock radio.
Pros
-Sleek design
-Atomic clock
-dual alarm with different settings per alarm
-nap setting
-nice sound
-progressive alarm if desired
Cons
-Atomic clock does not work everywhere. Could not get it to pick up a strong signal in the area of the bedroom that we keep our radio.
-Too confusing. You have to use multiple buttons and multiple combinations of button pressing to set the alarm.
-Display is TOO bright. And you only get the chance to turn it on or off; no progression of display light. We turn the display away from us otherwise the bright light distrupts our sleep.

I purchased the Sangean RCR2 after my trusted Magnavox clock radio died. I was surprised at how difficult it was to find another suitable clock ardio. As a matter of fact, I purchased 3 different clock radios but had to return them because they had poor FM recpetion and could not bring in the signal for my favorite morning station. One radio sounded so tinny, that I felt insulted when it came on in the early morning. Then I found the RCR2 and was pleasantly surprised. It received my favorite FM station loud and clear. Also, it has an atomic clock which guarntees the correct time.
On the downside: It is rather difficult to set up and to operate. Maybe the manual was poorly written. It took me about 30 minutes to learn all its tricks. It does not have a battery for extended power outages. It has a faint LCD display and tries to make up for this shortcoming with a bright background light. Well, I don't like my bedroom lit up by my clock radio while I am sleeping. I hear that Sanguan has come out with the Model RCR22 which corrects all these shortcomings and it only costs about $ 5 more. I am sorry I did not buy the RCR22, but my existing RCR2 model will have to do.
