The sound is softer than a similar keywound clock I used to own, and the case on the clock that was sent did not have a chrome ring as shown in the product picture (instead, it was just a cheap plastic piece).
However, I guess you get what you pay for (the thing isn't that expensive), and I need all the alarm clocks I can get to wake up, so perhaps I shouldn't complain.

I have had this model clock for years. Mine was recently destroyed in a flood, and I have been looking all over for a replacement. This is a simple design, easy-to-use, classic travel alarm clock.
Most travel alarms are now battery-operated. I leave my travel alarm in my suitcase, and don't take it out until I'm somewhere where I need it. I'd hate to have a travel alarm with a battery, which might let me down just when I needed it. Because this clock is wind-up, it will never have that problem.
This clock is small and sturdy, and my last one never let me down in nearly 30 years of use. My old model made a soft ticking sound, which I found was not a problem as long as I set it on a soft surface, and not near my head. I am so relieved to find that it is still in production - A CLASSIC!
