 "Power is not autovolt" 2010-01-19
By Christopher Lim (Philippines)
When I purchased this item I was assuming that it was autovolt. That is, it can work on 110 to 220 volt range as most of current appliances do. I was wrong. In my country we use 220 volts of electricity. Now I have to go through the hassle of putting my Sony alarm clock through a step down transformer.

The voltage requirements should have been displayed as part of the technical details.

 "Adjustable display brightness" 2010-01-15
By D. Schweitzer
Good clock for the money. The number display is green with 3 different adjustable levels of brightness. I've tried numerous other alarm clocks, but they were all too bright. This Sony is perfect. It does not light up the entire room. There are 2 alarm settings and a 10 minute snooze button.

 "Nice and inexpensive clock" 2009-11-30
By Dr Optical (Stillwater, OK)
In a nutshell I have no problems with it. The display is large and easy to read. The display brightness is adjustable from a low setting that is perfect for next to the bed to very bright which I'm sure would be legible in a well lit room. It has a couple of options for the alarm tone. My wife and I both use the beep which works well. The alarm will slowly increase its beep rate if you don't shut it off immediately. It even automatically adjusts the time for DST. Neither of us have ever used the radio so I can't offer an opinion of its sound quality. I've also learned by accident that you can adjust the length of the snooze delay. Also pressing the snooze button multiple times will increase the delay with each press.

"Great clock. Better looking in person." 2009-11-11

I seem to loose track of time while playing video games. I have a PS3 and even tough it has a built-in clock, stopping to check it while playing online is not going to happen. I got this Sony ICF-C414 clock sitting next to it so that I can take a quick glance when needed. It works like a champ, and is very good looking with a flat front that hides the buttons and knobs.

I do have a negative to point out. I have a large window above the TV that makes this clock virtually unreadable during the day. The light coming in the room is bright, but the display is dim even at the highest setting.

The clock has met my maintenance expectations as it self adjusts to daylight savings time. The time was set out of the box so all I've had to do to it, aside from fiddling with the brightness setting, was to plug it in and walk away.

Overall, I would purchase again even with the deficiencies.

 "a good purchase" 2009-11-07
By J. Kreuser (Laurinburg, NC)
I was pleasantly surprised how nice this clock radio is for very little money. I did not need all the bells and whistles some come with...just a attractive, inexpensive clock radio with a decent sound. The big numbers are a plus. It was exactly what I was looking for.
