 "Poor service policy" 2010-01-27
By JR Jones
This radio is a great idea, but it is not easy to set up and somewhat difficult to use for someone without any technical skills. But the main problem is their service policy. The remote did not work, so I called the company and was told they would replace it and/or the radio - but that their rule was that I had to pay to ship the entire unit it back to them.

 "Nice internet radio" 2010-01-26
By Michael J. Dennis (ohio)
My wife had been using my laptop connected to our stereo in order to hear her favorite radio station which we could not get over the air. That has been replaced with this nice internet radio which is easy to use and has a very large list of stations to select from, which can be sorted by country, or genre and added to one's favorites. Very good if you have wifi access.

 "Not bad!" 2010-01-25
By Doug Adams (Newton, MA United States)
I bought this, my first wireless internet radio, for use by my bed. I have never used the alarm function. I like to leave the radio on all night tuned to BBC World Service of local news overnight, have a pillow speaker, yadda yadda. ANYway, this isn't a bad little unit and at a good price. I dislike the menu navigation, but I have managed to make it easier to use by setting a bunch of Favorites. When it loses the connection to my network--whenever I reset the router or change its settings, or whatever--reconnecting requires entering text the old-fashioned "abcABC" way. I really hate that. BUT, once everything is set it runs like a champ. Sound is good via headphone, pillow speaker, or regular speaker. FM analog reception is adequate. I tried using a thumb drive with music files on it, and it worked, but I don't use it for that. Make sure you don't lose the remote! (I also have a couple of Squeezeboxes around the house, and, of course, this is not as good as those--but almost!) I highly recommend this if you want to save $$$.

A bit hard to navigate at first but once you get used to it it works perfectly.

"Would've been great if it worked..." 2010-01-20
By Alex Woods (Indianapolis, IN)
I bought this for my wife for Christmas to replace another alarm clock radio that died. The features and sound quality would have made this a great product - nice music options of internet radio, FM radio, MP3s from USB device, or streaming music from your computer. I liked having a remote to be able to adjust the volume while we're getting ready for work in the morning. You could set the alarm by choosing any combination of days of the week which was neat (early 7AM Wed meetings...)

We used it with FM radio first and it sounded so much better than any other alarm clock radios we've had. But, I had to return this for three main reasons:

1. Would not keep time. It would change time, date, and year randomly, even when set manually and told not to sync with the internet. Can't use it as an alarm clock.

2. Would not connect to the internet. We bought a new wireless router, set the security key correctly, and it pulled an IP address but always had a connect error when trying to find any internet station. We tried a help ticket with Aluratek, and they were very responsive, but we were unsuccessful.

3. The back light started cutting in and out after about 2 weeks. There is a button to turn it on/off which is nice, but it wouldn't stay on or would flicker and go back out. Can't read the screen at night anymore.

Hopefully we had a lemon, but we're not giving it a second chance. Problem now is to find another similar product...
