Overall I am satisfied with this alarm. I bought this alarm for living down by my campus and I didn't want to get an alarm from Sharper Image like the one that I have at home. I like the build of this clock and it is very easy to use and figure out how to program alarms. Took me about 2 minutes to figure it all out without having to look at the manual. The lighting of the clock is perfect, on the middle setting its bright enough to see it during the day, but at night its not too bright where it will keep you up.
There are only 2 issues that I have with this alarm clock. The overall "feel" of the clock is flimsy. I feel that if I dropped it even just from a foot away from a hard wood floor it would shatter into hundreds of little pieces. Second issue is the alarm volume. I use the Buzzer and it isn't nearly as loud as other alarms I have used in the past. Small issues but still they will take away form the overall rating.

it feels good that the radio wakes me up every morning.
but there is just one speaker, which means the sounds quality is still at the early 20th century.

It works fine, but I don't really care for the controls. I've been using it for about 2 months now and I still have difficulty finding the slightly different "alarm reset" button when I am just waking up and haven't turned the lights on. My old alarm clock's reset button looks like a nipple, and that is easier to find. There are just too many buttons on the top.
The clock has 3 brightness settings, but even the dimmest green is too bright for my preference.
This would be better if it also had red numbers, atomic clock setting, adjustable snooze length, and easier controls.
I will continue my quest for a "perfect" alarm clock.

I got one for my wife first for her side of the bed when she had a couple of near misses wake up wise. Then I had a couple of problems and I realized my old Sony was giving up the ghost. Couldn't really steal hers so I bought my own for my side. Easily to set up, good snooze, buzzer or radio/both. Very happy with both of them at this point.

Each time Sony brings out a new version of their alarm clock it's upgraded. This version trumps all of our older Sony clocks. It has no negatives! I love all the new features. The auto time set feature does work as advertised as I plugged mine in and it said the right time and date.( I set to my time zone )The display is nice and big and the brightness levels are just right in my opinion. The bright setting is easy to see in a sunlit room and the dim setting is very dim for those who don't want it too bright while sleeping. The alarms are very easy to set and change. Now all I have to do is twist the dial to go forward or back while setting the alarm. Very nice. This is a great little clock for the money and it does everything it says.
Amazon's price was the lowest that I could find a well. Payed $[...] bucks free ship.
