 "I LOVE this clock!" 2010-01-30
By Lady Sunder (USA)
I bought this clock about 2 years ago because I wanted something that could reset itself and be almost maintenance free. I feel blessed to have such a great clock. I have used both the wall plug-in and batteries. It adjusts easily and I have changed the batteries once in a year that I started using it. I like that it doesn't glare at me during the night like the red digital clock readings do. If I wake up and want to know the time, I can feel that the light-up screen button is bigger than the others and I don't accidentally turn off my alarm. I like the fact that it has an extra outside reading because I can check and see if a room that I heat very little in the winter is actually too cold.

In addition, I love the fact that it fits in a bag and I can bring it with me for hotels, staying with relatives, or traveling in general. I have had mine for a very long time and I intend to have it for a lot longer. This clock is amazing and sets itself right away. Once you figure out the set up (the first 10 minutes, tops), then you are on your way to get a clock that you will love and will make life easier.

An excellent multi-purpose alarm clock.

Features I Love:

Brightness settings on the display

Digital tuning

Graphic weather display

Dual alarms

Long battery life in the outdoor temperature guage

Automatically updates time changes, and after power outages

Customizable display

I have never had a problem with this alarm clock. After a full year of use I can honestly say that it is the best clock I have ever had.

"Would be great for a 24x7 ops center that needs an every-15-minute notification light" 2009-12-04
By DC Customer
This clock is a disaster for one main reason: the LED on the corner that lights up the bedroom in blue, every 15 minutes.

We read the manual. We followed the instructions. It seems that every night you need to hold down a specific button for 10 seconds to avoid being disturbed at 15 minute intervals by the weather LED lighting up. I actually have a suspicion that some of these clocks are buggy -- including ours -- because I can't imagine that a company that's been around for years would design a clock-radio that had a default value that wakes up a sleeping person every 15 minutes. And the manual doesn't seem to indicate that you'd have to do it every single night, but we do. For the love of god. And if you forget, expect to have your sleep disrupted until you get up and fix it.

The rest of the clock/weather station is ok, but not good enough to offset the tragic flaw of the light and the cryptic steps you must take on a nightly basis to turn off the stupid LED.

In sum: the default of something you use while sleeping should not involve waking you up four times an hour.

"Not good for stated purpose" 2009-04-17
By Gary L. Cowden (VA)
I ended up returning mine. I liked the idea of having an external thermometer feature, that is what got my attention. HOWEVER, the clock radio feature is what I really needed. We returned this because:

- The bright light in the corner can be turned of but comes on each time you touch a button

- Radio reception was OK but sound quality (important to us) was very inferior relative to our old $19 RCA.

- The display is very bright at night, yet hard to read

- The manual really is very hard to read, not well written and very small print

"A nice full featured clock" 2009-04-03
By T. D. Carter (Mid-west, MO)
After reading all the other reviews I wasn't too sure. But reading between the lines I decided to take a chance. I bit the bullet and bought it and so far I am happy I did. I did find one thing I would like changed, one thing I would like enhanced.

The negative and needing changed is that the dual alarms will both sound by the same method. Either both by buzzer or both by radio. I personally like to use one alarm by radio, one by buzzer. That gives me a gentle wake up and then a reminder alert a little later.

To make the clock better, it would be nice if you could dim the weather LED. It is bright, no doubt about it. You can set it so that it only comes on for 10 seconds when you press a button, but I'd still like to see it dimmable.

As far as the other complaints... almost all the bad reviews could be corrected and attributed to user error. If people would RTFM before moaning, life would be easier.

Time resets to central but you live in the west, well read the manual. Not getting the auto time update, RTFM. Weather indicator light stays lit and keeps you up at night, read the manual. Outside temperature sensor giving inaccurate readings, read the flipping manual and mount the sensor in an appropriate place. As far as the sensor only measuring barometric pressure indoors and not outside, well unless you live in a submarine or a minute-man missile silo and use the airlock, the pressure inside and outside your house are the same. Humidity might be different, but pressure is the same, and that is what gives the clock its rudimentary weather predictions. Yes, it is really basic weather predictions, but what do you expect. It's a clock radio, not a meteorologist. Turn on the radio if you want more details.

I'd buy one again, but I would prefer separate buzz/radio selections for each alarm.
