"One of the Worst Products I've Ever Purchased" 2010-02-18
By Mike Brooks (Tucson, AZ)
This clock radio started out well-enough. There are some design nuisances. As mentioned, waking up to CDs is laborious to get anything other than the first track on the CD. I like to listen to music right before sleeping, but be able to wake up to a buzzer---you can't do that with this clock without resetting it. The sound quality isn't great, but I don't expect it to be great when it's this inexpensive.

Over time, however, this clock began malfunctioning. I also had problems with the time speeding up. But that's far from the worst part. My clock radio turns on by itself! If I turn off the alarm and turn off the power, the radio will turn itself on, albeit far more quiet than the volume is set to. If I hit power, it turns itself to normal volume. If I turn the power back off, the radio turns off for about a second before turning itself back on.

Sometimes, when I turn off the radio, it stays off for sometime, but then turns itself back on. You can understand why this might be a problem, I essentially have an alarm clock that will wake me up at random times!

Terrible product, simply terrible. I highly recommend you choose any other clock that Amazon sells. I'm ridiculously mad about this piece of junk that I got and have reverted back to my old clock until I find a different one that has CD play. Do not buy.

 "Works Well - WOW!!!" 2009-12-03
By Redheaded Vegan (CA, USA)
I read some of the other negative reviews and thought I should put in my positive two cents!! :)

I hesitantly opened the package and delicately took everything out just in case it was going to fall apart right away!! Well, it did not much to my happiness!!

The radio and the CD work beautifully. As a matter of fact, the sound is really good for such a little inexpensive unit, so I am definitely happy!!

 "Good functional radio" 2009-05-11
By K. Florjancic (Kenosha, WI United States)
I have not experienced the problems that the other users have had. This clock radio seems to keep time well and provides a good variety of options for the price. Sound quality is also pretty good considering the price of the unit. I bought one unit at the store for my first son's room and it worked for us, so I purchased a second unit for my newborn's room as well.

 "Bad on many levels!" 2009-02-10
By Erin C. Steddom (Flagstaff, AZ)
Bought this clock because I wanted one I could wake up to a CD. This one was the wrong choice! The clock is fast and requires resetting every couple days, the buttons are too small to find in the dark and the light is much too bright. For the cost of this clock, spend the extra $5 and get one that works.

"Nice functions but horrible sound" 2009-01-06
By Frank Forrest (Northern California)
My old CD alarm clock bit the dust and I purchased the Emerson model as a replacement. The unit looks very nice and the big LED display is crisp and sharp. Setting up the functions on this alarm clock was very easy to do and it has a good amount of features such as two alarms, option to wake up to radio or CD music, etc.

The worse part about this alarm clock is the terrible sound quality it gives. I've heard some bad radio alarm clocks before, but Emerson has outdone itself with probably the worse sounding CD alarm clock of all-time. Music, if you can call it that, that comes out of these speakers sounds as if it was pumped through a tin can...and a poor one at that.

If the quality of sound doesn't matter a bit to you, you might want to get this...but considering that a CD player is supposed to play music, this one should be avoided at all costs.
